Jason Roy: Ben Stokes Ashes heroics makes me want Spurs shirtCat:未分類
In his most recent column for Sky Sports, Jason Roy reflects Ben Stokes’ Headingley heroicshis DJ set afterwards and discusses his transfer to No 4 in the order and he hopes it’s going to win him a Tottenham Hotspur top…
Stokesy’s hundred in Headingley will be 100 per cent.
Just like the craziness of this World Cup triumph, it leaves you kind of lost for words. It was just ridiculous.
Getting bowled out from the first innings for 67 was disheartening and it was going to be hard from there on out. We never thought we would end up in the situation we’re in about this day of this Exam win it.
But there was lots of stuff mentioned, such as’while Stokesy there, we have got an opportunity’.
I’d lost confidence – 73 runs needed, with one wicket left? I’d began packing my equipment up, and Stokesy hit a few sixes.
I thought,’this will be good to see, regardless of what the outcome’, so I went and stood on the balcony, holding the back of a seat, with a few of the lads around me.
I’m not a big believer in this type of material but, from there on, nobody moved.
Between balls you would have a bit of a walk however, when the bowler was again back at the very top of his run, it was back to my chair.
By about as ancient as 40 runs still needed, everybody in the room started to have exactly the feeling; he is likely to do this. The management he showed, hitting sixes rotating the attack and his calming influence .
Obviously things went our way we won’t shy – together with the run-out that was close that Nathan Lyon fumbled.
The lads went with Stokesy smashing us to success, then suddenly Leachy sprinting down to the trail. A few of the guys collapsed!
Leachy can’t speak about it. I said to him, I feel the exact identical way regarding the chunk I fielded for the. It keeps me awake through the night, the notion of fumbling it.
But he had been unbelievable and deserves a massive amount of the plaudits for his role in the win.
As for Stokesy, I do not understand how he had the power. Where nothing went to stop him, he was in that frame of mind. He didn’t show much emotion all day – he concentrated in any way times on the task in hand – and you may see the cost that occurred by the finish, he had been absolutely finished!
Us lads from the changing room were tired, moving through of the emotions. Adrenaline should have been operating , also McDonald’s by the evening’s end!
I missed out on that trip as I’d already begun going back home by there, however, sitting on the outfield as a team, celebrating after one of the greatest Test matches of all time, was an unbelievable moment.
Those are the times that you and the game play with . There was not too much talk, we were taking it ; it was a beautiful evening, with the sun and it was silent ahead there was absolute carnage.
Leachy is the very humble bloke from the living area but, after a few beers, we could spur on him to re-enact his run. Meanwhile, I had been in charge of the tunes for a little.
There was a hip hop, which is my type of vibe, but I slowed down it and threw into a bit of Lewis Capaldi towards the ending.
Continuing on to the Old Trafford Test this past week, there’s the feeling around the team that the momentum is with us. The lads are fired and believe anything can be possible.
On a personal note, my form has been quite frustrating. I have found it tough, although I understood opening the batting in Test cricket was going to be different to one-day cricket.
Coming into the Test scene off the rear of the World Cup – sense emotionally and emotionally drained – work my way whilst playing out and I’ve been trying to learn on the job.
I thinking, facing a few chunks and have been heading out to bat,’this is working’ and I’ll find a drive ball, or a ball I nick, and you need to start all over again next innings.
Individuals have made their decisions, saying’he’s not a Test participant’ and this type of stuff. I believe I could be, and am, and moving down to the sequence to No 4 to this Evaluation it reassuring. You get a bit more time to ease into an innings.
That is not to say it is going to be simple. This is comfortably the best attack I have ever confronted; they’ve a set of fast bowlers, who operate up at or close. They are so consistent; they do not seem to miss their own areas.
However, as a top notch unit, we’re hungry. That’s a terrific feeling, especially considering how deep we are in the total amount of cricket that’s been played and the season.
The next innings at Headingley is 100 per cent our template moving. You’d need yet another batsman to go big with Stokesy, to drive for the big 400, 450 plus totals and it’d be amazing if I could donate and receive a huge score in those two Tests.
My woman Everly is still a Tottenham fan, although they sent him after his hundred; Stokesy has been showing off using the brand newest shirt even if only to see what I could get delivered from Tottenham Hotspur.
During their Champions League game against Manchester City earlier in the year, I recall that she was yelling and crying and crying, and then I flicked the soccer on and abruptly she stopped.
When this game is won by Tottenham, I mentioned, she is a Tottenham fan. She did not cry the whole game and, in my view, their run to the closing was down to her.
I am not the only one this week chomping at the bit. Jofra Archer is really excited and looking forward to building on his attempts.
He is eager to get going, but so is everybody. We do not want the attempt of Stokesy at Headingley to be for nothing and it will be, when we lose this match.
