For only the second time in the past six seasons, Mercedes have now suffered three successive defeats that were race-day Because of this.
And with Ferrari seemingly having discovered a breakthrough by using their car on paths which do not demand horsepower – the established strength of the SF90 – Hamilton is expecting a fight that is consistent.
“I am a realist so I see the problem we’re in and they’ve just come up with some kind of upgrade that’s possibly put their automobile… maybe they’ve had a fantastic car all year and it just wasn’t functioning in the ideal window,” explained Hamilton on Sunday night.
“Who knows, as it’s unlikely they’ve attracted a gigantic, massive update that has brought 20-30 things [of downforce] to a thing which performance-wise is likely what you’d expect they’ve accepted here.
“But obviously their car works really well everywhere now so it is going to be somewhat tough to beat them, particularly as they’re so quick on the straights. We can not compete on the straights right now.”
Mercedes should’pull our socks up’
Despite the winning streak of Ferrari, Hamilton and Mercedes’ constant form prior to the August summer break means they stay firmly on track to protect their world names.
Hamilton actually extended his name contribute to 65 points, while Leclerc, Ferrari writer, will be 96 points adrift with 156 points to perform over the last six races.
“We’ve won before with not the ideal car but it’s how we deliver over the weekend.
“At this time they’re delivering better in the operations area. I did enough in the race in the first stint to emerge and lead but the procedures that are entire didn’t get the job done. So we have only got to re-huddle, reunite together, work hard and move forwards.”
The world champion added:”Obviously it has got tighter and tighter as the season has gone , we operate on this, but at precisely exactly the identical time we’ve only got to be doing a better job.
“We were doing such a fantastic job at the beginning of the year and we’ve got this gap, but the difference can go. I’m under no illusions – it is not won.
“We have got to pull our socks up. We can perform. But we win and lose as a group and we all don’t feel great at this time.”
