Blake Austin added to England squad for World Cup NinesCat:未分類

The Australia-born stand-off Blake Austin of warrington has been called into the England squad for Its Downer World Cup Nines.

Austin replenishes his Wolves team-mate Jack Hughes, who has been ruled from this Nines tournament but expects to be fit to join with Austin ahead of their Great Britain and Ireland Lions tour of Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Austin, that qualifies by a British grandmother, has left a big impact in his first season at the Betfred Super League and has been shortlisted for the Man of Steel award acquired by the Jackson Hastings of Salford. England Women also have lost a part of their squad to its Womens Nines contest that will operate together with the mens at the Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta weekend. Leeds forward Shannon Lacey was ruled out after suffering a head injury during last Sundays success at St Helens in the Womens Super League semi final. Even though she remains hopeful of recovering in time to join Englands two-Test excursion of Papua New Guinea the injury also principles Lacey from Friday nights Grand Final from Castleford at St Helens. Both mens and womens squads will fly to Sydney on Saturday and play with their first games next Friday (October 18) before the majority of their competitions will be played on Saturday October 19 – with all matches shown live on Sky Sports.
