Following an overnight storm and morning rain, F1’s fastest circuit had been low on traction throughout the 90 minutes of running and drivers found the going really ambitious. His Racing Point was dropped by sergio Perez, Kimi Raikkonen beached his Alfa Romeo, and also numerous drivers spun or conducted wide. The circuit dried and drivers were finally able to use slick tyres, shuffling the timesheet. However, it had been F1’s new race winner – and the weekend’s favourite for the race win – that topped the charts, together with Leclerc’s final lap taking him to a best lap of 1:27.905. Tricky Monza catches outside drivers Raikkonen had been the first driver because he put the power down to depart the Parabolica, Monza’s fast and long corner to spin in the gravel.
